Dr. Dolittle comes to Dublin

June 23rd: Here are some pictures of our new pet deer, or at least they seem like they are pets since we see them almost daily and we feed them...well, they eat our plants anyway! We think the mom must bring her 2 babies over to sleep in our neighbor's little woodsy area on the south edge of our property, b/c we see them mostly in the mornings, then around 10 a.m., the mom will come over and the babies will rush to her for some milk, and then she'll take them with her in front of our house, across the street and into the woods behind those houses.

Here is one of the babies, getting closer to our house...and our yummy daylillies! In the first picture, you can't see it (maybe if you click on it) but there is a little baby bunny that is playing with the deer. One deer is behind the red swing, he chased the bunny over there. The bunny would hop at the deer, and they would back up, then the deer would move toward the bunny, and he would scurry!

Here's one of the babies just a few feet from our bay window!

And here they are enjoying a fine meal of river birch bark and the plant I call the Chia Pet, but I believe Rich calls it a Japanese Willow. It looks (and grows!) like a Chia Pet. Anyway, they are just a few feet from our dining room window here.

And here was the Dr. Dolittle kicker, when we looked at the swingset and saw Mr. Squirrel just sitting in the clubhouse there. We were starting to feel like a zoo!
