The pool

August 9th: We spent the last 2 weeks at the pool for Katie's swim lessons, as well as at the indoor pool 2 days each week for Drew's lessons! Unfortunately, this is the only picture of Katie that turned out...poor thing, the sun was so bright, no wonder she had her eyes closed! But, it has paid off...Katie gets to move to the next level already (it took Drew 3 times in the first level to move on) and Drew swam half the length of the lap pool at Metro V, all by himself, on Monday, August 6th! Then, he found that he could jump into the pool and swim back to the side, so I asked him if he was ready to jump off the diving board, and he said "Sure!" So, he got out there, gave one little scared glance back at me and I said "Don't think, just jump!" and he did! And, once he came back up, you could see the smile on his face from ear to ear, all the while he swam back to the side. I don't know how he didn't drink half the pool with his smile so big! Then, 2 days later, he decided to brave the high dive, which I never thought in a million years he would do! He loved it! Here are some videos.

Drew is also very excited, because he passed the swim test at the North pool, and at that pool, you only have to be 46 inches and pass the test to go down their slide. The bigger slides at the South pool, you have to be 48 inches...and even though he keeps having me check, he's still at 46.5 inches. Next year, buddy! The day he passed the test, they didn't have enough lifeguards to open the slide, so we're heading back today, video to come!
